What would you drive an hour for?

A message from President, Barb Stanley.

What would you drive an hour for? This is the question that has been ricocheting around in my mind since September. You see, that’s when we invited nine groups of people to help us film a very special video. Now, hold on for a second. You may be thinking, well, of course people would drive an hour to film a video because they would get a nice paycheck for their time, right? Well, what if I told you that no one in the video was paid? Then, you may think they came because they had a deep, personal relationship with us. And ok, yes, some of the participants are dear friends, but some of the folks who drove a long way to join us had never met us before. So, let me ask you again—

What would you drive over an hour, in heavy traffic, to do for free for people you have never met before?

For most of us, the answer is nothing. But for people who have sometimes felt invisible because they live with disabilities, nothing would stop them from coming. Because they believe in the mission that Wonderful Works stands for—a future for the church where families impacted by disability are seen, invited in, and given a place to belong. Where churches know they are supported as they learn how to become truly accessible. Where individuals with disabilities are not looked upon just as people to be served, but rather as people who have gifts to serve the kingdom too. The people who gave their time to help us film this special video did it because they believe that their voices matter. We do too.

We will be launching the video at our Chosen. Loved. Called. Gala this March. We will also be talking to some of the people who helped us make it. If you would like to be part of this special night, table sponsorships are currently open. Click the button below for more information.
